Xenia Zinoviev - a new star of the Russian piano!

Born 1990 in Munich, Germany, Xenia Zinoviev is the second daughter of the famous Russian writer and philosopher Professor Dr. Alexandre Zinoviev. Her call to fine arts was noticed and supported very early. Young Xenia became a blend of harmony of fine artist and pianist.
At five and a half Xenia was the youngest in the piano class of Prof. Nelly Albrecht, former director of Shostakovitch school of music and chairwomen of Gnessin Institute of music in Moscow, and now professor at Munich Conservatory. Under the skilful and sensible guidance of her music teacher, highly esteemed in Germany for her unique approach to children of talent, Xenia made a number of concerts and radio programmes in Munich and Bavaria (Hercules Hall in King's Residence, Munich Conservatory, Tolstoy foundation, Mozart Hall).

Xenia took part in many important competitions in Germany. For example, she won a second place in Karl Lang piano competition in 1997 and 1998, second place solo and first place in four hands piano in "Jugend musiziert" competition in 1998. She participated with a remarkable success in Bartók-festival and German concert tour of Philharmonic Orchestra of Munich.

Xenia made a mass media hit in January 1999 when she played piano in the TV classical music show in the TV series "Kids & Michael" with German TV star Michael Schanze in Friedrichstadt Palast in Berlin.

In June 1999 Xenia moved to Moscow together with her parents. She started to attend the famous piano class of Andrew Djangvaladze. In March 2000, Xenia recorded with Studio "Melodiya" in the Great Hall of the House of Music Record of Moscow, her first CD with pieces by Beethoven, Grieg, Burgmüller and Tschaikovsky. She performed on the great Steinway of great Sviatoslav Richter.

During two years that followed, Xenia won 7 first prizes at internationally renowned piano competitions throughout Europe: International Piano Competition in Pietra Ligure (May 2000), 64th International Steinway Piano Competition in Hamburg (October 2000); in May 2001, Xenia participates in 11th International Piano Competition in Barletta, Italy, where she earns the 1st place and is designated the Special Performance Award W.A.Mozart. Several TV and radio programs were dedicated to Xenia. In July 2000, she made a one hour program on Paris Radio "Courtoisie" with famous pianist Mikhaïl Rudy. The impression she made incited the Music Festival St.Riquier, France, to invite her for a Solo Concert. From March to June 2001, Xenia took part in Jubilee Concerts in Moscow Concert Halls and at Shilow's Gallery and goes on tour to Siberia (Region of Orenbourg).

In July 2001, Xenia was special guest at the Music Festival St.Riquier, France with a Solo Concert. In November 2001, she won the first prize at 14th European Piano Competition in Moncalieri, Italy, and, on the same day at the other end of Europe: First at 46th Steinway Piano Competition Munich.
In January 2002, she won the first place at "Jugend musiziert" competition, Moscow. In March 2002, she won the first place at "Jugend musiziert" in Dublin, Ireland.


Xenia recorded her second Compact Disc in December 2001-January 2002 at the legendary Great Hall of Moscow Tschaikovsky Concervatory, where played the best pianists of the world.

In January-February 2002, Xenia is starring in the first film of the serial "Prodigy kids". In March 2002, Xenia goes on tour to Orenbourg, Russia, with participation at Siberian Spring Festival, and in April 2002, she was invited for two Solo concerts in Paris, France. A tour to Texas, USA, is planned for autumn 2002. Xenia's repertoire includes Beethoven, Mozart, R.Wagner, Shostakovitch, Majkapar, Ghretschanninov, Boccherini, Kabalewsky, Burgmüller, J.S.Bach, Bartók, Grieg, Tchaikovsky, Glinka, Kalinnikov, L. and W.A.Mozart, Clementi, Deschevov, Loeschhorn, Luck, Czerny, Oltra, Glinka etc.
